70 Days of Geocaching – Day 29

TEAM_CSG’s quest to fill in month/day combinations where we have never found a geocache. Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS)receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, anywhere in the world. Taking a vacation day.  I did a short geocaching trip to fill in today’s date.  I had four finds, but two are noteworthy for today.

Coolest Cat II… A tribute to Yoda – Breaking way from a string of micro caches, I took a short walk to this cache.  Most of the high grass leading up to this cache is gone, a victim to the highway expansion nearby.  A ammo can was the reward for a cache in tribute to Yoda.  Pictures of the cat early and near end of life were inside.  A few trinkets, but none that I need to trade for.

Muche Love for Home and Country – The city of Westminster placed this monument in tribute to the branches of our Armed Forces. Organized by branch in a circle around a statue in the center, there are bricks engraved with the names of Servicemen and Women who gave their lives in defense of this country.

JJ Abrams Rewind Podcast #053 for NBC Revolution 2.22 – Declaration of Independence

revolutionDeclarationOfIndependenceWe say goodbye to our friends in the Revolution universe in this episode.  Would season three have been good?  Was this show on the wrong network?  As Miles stated. “Get out of here you idiots”.

Will viewer campaigns give this show a life somewhere else.  If we do see any type of continuing story, it will be in a written form rather then visual. The podcast will continue. We just would like to know what you would like us to tackle next.

Did the setup remind you of “The Stand”?

ABCDERIAN Challenge – sometimes geocaching is a marathon. not a sprint. When this cache was first published in June 2007, I began to accumulate the requirements in a bookmark list. Find a cache that begins with each letter of the alphabet, after the date of publication, and must be a physical cache.   Many of the first caches on the list we from a trip that we made to Maui a few months after publication.  The final cache to complete the challenge was found in August 2013.  We had a break from the rain today, and made the find.

JJ Abrams Rewind Podcast #052 for NBC Revolution 2.21 – Memorial Day

RevolutionWe come to the last episode before the series finale.  Art and Karen admire all who are trying to get another network to pick it up, but it appears that per the previews for the next episode, there will be a conclusion.  This fuels the theory that Art has had that the producers shot additional “Plan B” scenes for this scenario.

We get closure on the dead rats that we saw before the winter break.  Just how many time to you have to brush your hair before you break the scalp?  How will the show end? Will Aaron sacrifice Priscilla, for the good of the world? Will we have a final scene 15 years in a future where the power has returned?

Our Mutual RiNo – (Day 26) This was found during my lunch hour.  I took a long walk to an up and coming area of Denver known as the River North Arts District. Combinations of craft brewers, restaurants, and restored homes make this a unique part of Denver.  The cache was well hidden, and also well marked when I found it.

Patty Turns 40 – (Day 27) The one thing I have learned in life is to never ask a woman her age.  This cache is to honor the 40th birthday of someone special. The cache container was very creative, and easy to find at the far end of a new park in Arvada.

“Thank You” – elrep – We made it through a Mother’s day snow event. I waited until the end of the day today to find this cache.  The weather had improved, making for a quick find.  I had attempted this cache last fall without success.  We later discovered that the cache had gone missing, so I felt vindicated. This is one in a series of “thank yous” to various cachers who have contributed to geocaching by hiding numbers of caches. I also discovered that the bowling alley near this cache had closed down.  Another business bites the dust.

JJ Abrams Rewind Podcast #051 for NBC Revolution 2.20 – Tomorrowland

NBCRevolutionTomorrowland

Mustard gas fact sheet from the NJ Department of Health

All the networks had their share of cancellations this year. Revolution was one of the victims in the purge.  With only two new episodes left, how will the show conclude? What did Eric Kripke pitch to NBC for season three?? Will the nanotech be the conclusion of this season?

Will another network pick this show up?  We think it is unlikely.

What are your thoughts on the cancellation?

June 12th~ Red Rose Day – Today was the first of the bi-weekly  Friday’s off for the company that employees me. The plane for today was to visit the Stapleton Redevelopment area to participate in a plant sale.  Our wires got crossed on the start time of the sale, and could not stay as we had a full day of errands.  The cache for today is one in a series honoring various special days throughout the year.

We stopped by an office park and grabbed this easy micro.  The company at the hiding location is a German Solar Inverter manufacturer, with a plant here in Denver. There was also a cache at the other end of the plant, which we also found.
