70 Days of Geocaching- Day 34

TEAM_CSG’s quest to fill in month/day combinations where we have never found a geocache. Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS)receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, anywhere in the world. Today found us with an overnight stay in Amarillo, TX  Before we left town, we stopped at the famous Cadillac Ranch and picked up a few caches.  We then started off to Dallas

I got 99 Problems, but a bench ain’t one of them – A boneyard of old bus stop benches in a field by the interstate. A bit of searching in tall grass and a field loaded with the most ugliest caterpillars you ever seen made this an interesting find.

The Cadillac Ranch Travel Bug Hotel – A shot trip down the frontage road Brought us to this small size cache.  Easy find and a reminder of another tourest attraction ten miles down the road.  We dropped, Odell State Tag here.

cadillac ranchCadillac Ranch – the last one was a virtual cache at the famous Cadillac Ranch.  A series of old Cadillacs, nose buried in the ground.  We visited here 20 years ago.  We returned at the new location a few miles further west.  The years of spray paint on the cars have taken its toll, and the cars are almost unrecognizable.

Greg Beeman’s Blog – backstory on this episode

Well, you just can’t trust the Volm.  You have the enemy on the ropes and they abandon you.  With the adult Lexi, is there a chance that she is part Evil Karen.  Why didn’t Ben have a catheter if he was in a coma for two months?  We lose another cast member in the first few minutes of this episode.  He needed a better agent.

I LOVE MY MOMMY – Tonight’s journey brought me and our geodaughter to Independence Park in Arvada for this regular size cache.  Another find for us that is a tribute cache.  One for the mother of the cache owner, who passed from MS.  We were able to find the cache quickly as thunderstorms were brewing in the area.

Pattridge Park 2 – Back in the country, and with additional stronger antibiotics, I headed out west of town visiting an open space that has several caches. Walking the trails in a quiet part of Arvada, I was at peace.  I plan on returning at a later date as the solution to a puzzle cache is located in the same park, but I did not have the coordinates with me today. The payoff was a large container and a trackable that we will be taking on an upcoming trip.

Commuter Cache #3: Parking Rates are HIGH – Today found me on a journey to what is becoming my home away from home, Calgary. This cache had a bit of a challenge as I’m still recovering from an ear infection, so my search was a bit labored.  One of the nice things about caching in downtown Calgary is that the hint with the cache will always direct you to the final location.  I guess hiders in downtown Calgary feel sorry for us. Now back to rest and good drugs from the Doctor.

Between the Goal Posts – Just when you need to find a cache on a workday, one pops up in downtown Denver.  Not only was it downtown, it was on the new cross town bus route known as “The Metro Ride” Only a few feet from a stop, it was easy off, find and log the cache, and easy on as I continued my trip to the office. Nice hide, but be careful of the meeting room right outside the hiding location.
