70 Days of Geocaching Day 52, 53, &54

TEAM_CSG’s quest to fill in month/day combinations where we have never found a geocache. Geocaching is an outdoor recreational activity, in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS)receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called “geocaches” or “caches”, anywhere in the world. Happy Thanksgiving.  Nothing like a bathroom remodel to throw a wrench in the 70 days quest.  The streak continues.

Not So Comforting -The her half of the team braved a cold from to capture this cache.  An unusual container fitting the location.

Mondo’s NAT #117 – Chaui  A blustery day with darkness approaching.  Forgot my multi-tool made for a challenge in extracting the logbook.

Perez’s Last Hurrah #5 – day #3 and I earned a mid-day break from tiling the shower to grab this cache.  Now to relax!!

70 Days of Geocaching – Day 51 – Jim Baker Reservoir again

Jim Baker Reservoir again – It has been a brutal week weather wise in Denver.  From 70s in the start of the week to record lows of -14F, geocaching is going to get tougher for the balance of the year.    We had a break from the cold yesterday, but another front started to come through the area, and with it, another round of snow and below zero temperatures.

I had to run a few errands this morning, and took the opportunity to find the cache for this day. The hide was at Jim Baker reservoir.  The again in the name refers to the second cache at this watershed northwest of downtown Denver.  A biography of Jim Baker is here.

Empty parking lot at the pavilion!!

Ducking Out For Some Tiger Butterflies (#42) – another dash after work cache. This time a visit to Butterfly Pavilion was ground zero for this cache. The pavilion was closed when we arrived, making for a empty parking lot and a quick find.  This cache is part of a series of where rubber ducks are used as containers.

Hinge the Gates! – With the end of daylight savings time, we can expect more evening geocaching for the balance of the year. Tonight took us to ‘Moon Gulch Park’ in Arvada for this micro cache.  We were the first logged find in over two months for what was a simple find.  The only question was, Did we break park curfew?
